ChandigarhPosted: 6 days agoOpenings: 1Applicants: 50+Instrumentation/Automation EngineerA reputed Detergent/Soap manufacturing i...Posted by Smile Management SolutionsJob descriptionRole & responsibilities Job Title: Instrumentation Engineer Department: Projects Location: Base location Chandigarh Reports To: President Projects Job PurposeThe Instrumentation Engineer Responsible for independently planning, executing, commissioning, and maintaining the instrumentation and automation scope of industrial projects across multiple manufacturing plant locations. The role involves end-to-end responsibility for field instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, HMI, control systems, automation networks, OEE systems, Energy Management Systems (EMS), IIoT, data acquisition, process monitoring, and digitalization initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesFunctional:Plan, design, specify, and implement instrumentation systems for new and existing projects.Select suitable sensors, transmitters, switches, control valves, actuators, flow meters, level instruments, pressure instruments, temperature instruments, analytical instruments, and field devices.Prepare and review specifications, control philosophy, loop diagrams, and instrument layouts.Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for procurement and installation of instrumentation equipment.Ensure proper communication between PLC, VFD, MCC, PCC, SCADA, HMI, sensors, meters, and other automation systems. Quality & Compliance:Conduct inspection and calibration of instruments as per standards and QA/QC protocols.Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and regulatory norms for instrumentation installations.Maintain instrumentation documentation for project records and audit readiness. Project Execution & Timelines:Develop instrumentation work schedules aligned with project timelines.Monitor progress and escalate any technical or execution delays to the President – Projects.Lead the commissioning of control systems, automation logic testing, and handover to operations.Coordinate integration of energy meters with PLC/SCADA/EMS/IoT platforms. Cost Saving:Propose cost-effective instrumentation solutions based on process needs.Optimize sensor and controller selections while maintaining functionality.Avoid redundancy through smart instrument selection and network design. Innovation:Promote use of advanced instrumentation technologies, remote diagnostics, and IoT-based tools.Introduce automation enhancements and energy-efficient control strategies.Stay updated on evolving standards and digital instrumentation systems. Process Improvement:Develop centralized data acquisition architecture.Standardize instrumentation design and documentation templates across projects.Improve calibration, testing, and handover protocols based on site experience.Support cross-training of electrical/mechanical team members for basic instrumentation understanding.
