Job SummaryThe General Medicine Consultant is responsible for providing expert medical care to adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses. The role involves diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and health education, while leading clinical teams and upholding the highest standards of patient safety and ethics.2. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesPatient Care: Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with complex, undifferentiated, or multi-system diseases in OPD, IPD, ICU, and emergency settings.Clinical Decision Making: Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.Procedures: Perform routine procedures like lumbar puncture, ascitic/pleural tap, central line insertion, etc., as per privilege.Emergency Response: Lead/participate in Code Blue teams and manage medical emergencies.Chronic Disease Management: Long-term care for diabetes, hypertension, COPD, thyroid disorders, infectious diseases, etc.Administrative & Academic DutiesDocumentation: Maintain accurate, timely EMR records, discharge summaries, and medico-legal documents.Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior doctors, DNB/MD residents, and nursing staff.Quality & Compliance: Adhere to NABH/JCI protocols, antibiotic stewardship, and infection control policies.CME & Research: Participate in case discussions, mortality audits, clinical research, and present at conferences.Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with super-specialists for referrals and comprehensive care.Patient RelationsCommunication: Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, prognosis, lifestyle modification, and preventive care.Ethics: Ensure informed consent, patient confidentiality, and empathetic care delivery.3.
