About Simplismart
Simplismart is a GenAI inference platform to deploy, scale, and monitor any GenAI model (LLMs, speech, vision, or diffusion) across cloud or on-prem. Built for strict SLAs, enterprise-grade security, and full observability. Its modular design lets you optimize for cost or latency or auto-select the best topology per workload.
About the role-
You will own the finance function at Simplismart, covering everything from monthly payment runs and financial reporting to consolidated financials across our India parent and US subsidiary.
This is a hands-on role combining financial control, compliance, treasury, and strategic decision support. You will work closely with the founders and business teams to manage cross-border financial operations, build financial models, and understand the economics of GPU infrastructure, cloud costs, customer commitments, and business growth.
What is expected from you-
Financial Close & Reporting: Own monthly closing, MIS, consolidated reporting, intercompany reconciliations, foreign exchange translation, and annual statutory audits across India and the US. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Revenue Recognition: Establish and manage revenue recognition for consumption-based and committed contracts, including prepaid credits, deferred and unbilled revenue, overages, and multi-year commitments.
AI Compute Economics: Build financial models for GPU and cloud infrastructure covering capacity, utilisation, pricing, costs, gross margins, payback periods, and cash requirements.
Financial Planning & Analysis:Own annual operating plans, rolling forecasts, integrated financial models, and scenario planning. Translate infrastructure commitments, demand changes, and pricing decisions into profitability and cash-flow implications.
Treasury & Working Capital: Manage accounts receivable, collections, DSO, accounts payable, vendor terms, payment calendars, banking relationships, multi-currency accounts, cash management, and working capital.
Foreign Exchange Management: Track USD inflows against USD cloud and GPU costs, assess natural hedges, manage residual FX exposure, and establish a documented FX management policy.
Cross-border Finance: Design and manage invoicing and payment flows between India and US entities, including entity-level contracting, withholding tax, tax treaty positions, and remittance documentation.
Tax & Statutory Compliance: Own India compliance covering GST, LUT, TDS, advance tax, ROC/MCA filings, transfer pricing, FEMA, and RBI reporting. Manage US federal and state taxes, sales tax, franchise tax, and payroll compliance.
Audit, Fundraising & Investor Reporting: Lead finance due diligence, maintain the data room, prepare investor and board reporting packs, manage financial schedules and reconciliations, and respond directly to diligence queries.
Controls & Systems: Establish financial controls, approval workflows, delegation of authority, payment authorisation protocols, vendor onboarding checks, and segregation of duties.
Unit Economics & Cost Attribution: Build visibility into GPU-level, workload-level, and customer-level economics. Track infrastructure utilisation, provider costs, gross margins, and profitability across customers and deployment models.
Infrastructure Investment Decisions: Support management in evaluating whether to buy, reserve, lease, or commit to GPU capacity based on expected demand, utilisation, returns, and cash-flow requirements.
External Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with auditors, chartered accountants, tax advisors, banks, and other financial partners to ensure accurate reporting and timely compliance.
What We're Looking For-
2–5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, controllership, or a similar role.
CA or MBA in Finance preferred; CS qualification is an added advantage.
Experience in a startup or technology/SaaS company, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
Strong understanding of Indian accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, and cross-border transactions.
Working knowledge of US accounting, taxation, and compliance requirements.
Hands-on experience with monthly financial close, audits, MIS, accounts receivable/payable, treasury, and working capital management.
Familiarity with revenue recognition for SaaS and consumption-based business models.
Working knowledge of GST, TDS, FEMA, RBI regulations, transfer pricing, and international taxation.
Strong financial modelling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build finance processes and controls from the ground up and work independently.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with founders, investors, auditors, banks, and advisors.
High ownership, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
Good to have-
Experience with GPU infrastructure, cloud computing, data centres, or infrastructure-heavy business models.
Understanding of capacity utilisation, infrastructure commitments, unit economics, and gross margin analysis.
Experience with multi-currency treasury, FX exposure management, and cross-border payment structures.
Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, and financial due diligence.
Familiarity with financial automation, reporting tools, and scalable finance systems.
