Team lead - International banking (KYB/KYC) Immediate joiners only (Chennai)

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead to manage KYC (Know Your Customer) and KYB (Know Your Business) operations within the International Banking domain. The ideal candidate will lead a team responsible for customer onboarding, periodic reviews, enhanced due diligence, and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of AML regulations, and expertise in managing complex individual and corporate customer due diligence processes.

Role & responsibilities

Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of KYC/KYB Analysts.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide regular coaching and feedback.
• Ensure adherence to operational procedures, SLAs, and quality standards.
• Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and productivity targets.

KYC/KYB Operations

• Review and approve KYC/KYB profiles for Individual, Corporate, SME, and Institutional clients.
• Oversee customer onboarding, remediation, and periodic review processes.
• Validate Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and Risk Assessments.
• Review customer documentation, ownership structures, UBO verification, and source of funds/wealth assessments.
• Ensure accurate screening against sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and watch lists.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, KYB, FATCA, CRS, and global regulatory requirements.
• Identify and escalate suspicious activities, compliance concerns, and operational risks.
• Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance examinations.
• Maintain awareness of changing regulatory requirements across international jurisdictions.

Quality & Process Improvement

• Conduct quality reviews and audits of team outputs.
• Analyze operational metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
• Prepare and present management reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Relationship Managers, and Client Onboarding teams.
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex KYC/KYB cases.
• Participate in governance meetings and regulatory discussions.

Preferred Certifications

• CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist)
• ICA Certification in KYC/AML
• ACAMS Certification
• Other Financial Crime Compliance certifications

Experience Required
