Job description

About Decentro

Decentro is a Y-Combinator backed banking & payments infrastructure company. We provide building blocks that help companies build fintech workflows across banking, payments, KYC, lending, and collections through simple APIs.

Since 2020, we’ve scaled to process $4B+ in payment volumes and serve 1400+ customers across India & Singapore, including marketplaces, banks, regulated institutions, fintechs, lenders, and gaming companies.

About the role

We are looking for a high-ownership Associate Director – Finance to own and build Decentro’s Finance function. This is a strategic yet hands-on role spanning finance operations, transaction-level reconciliations, financial reporting, planning, controls, compliance, fundraising readiness, and automation.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with direct fintech/regulated-business experience and can work closely with founders, banking partners, compliance, legal, operations, and product teams.

What is expected from you

Own end-to-end Finance, including accounting, reporting, cash flow, payables, receivables, collections, banking, reconciliations, and controls.

Lead transaction-level finance operations including settlement reconciliations, merchant/partner payouts, nodal/escrow accounts, collections, and exception management.

Drive monthly/quarterly/yearly close, financial statements, MIS, board reporting, cash-flow reporting, budgets, forecasts, and financial models.

Build and maintain financial controls, policies, approval frameworks, ERP/accounting workflows, and finance automation.

Ensure clean, accurate, and audit-ready financial records and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other external partners.

Oversee GST, TDS, income-tax, payroll-related, and other statutory compliance activities.

Lead financial and commercial analysis for products, banking partnerships, pricing, vendors, and strategic initiatives.

Own fundraise readiness, including investor MIS, financial models, due diligence, virtual data rooms, and board reporting.

Build scalable finance processes and controls from the ground up, improving reporting quality and reducing manual effort.

Partner closely with Founders, Banking Partners, Compliance, Legal, Product, Operations, HR, and Engineering.

Hire, manage, and develop a Finance team, including 2–4 members across finance, accounting, and reconciliation.

What are we looking for

Qualified CA with 7–8 years of post-qualification experience.

Direct ownership of Finance in a fintech, payments, NBFC, banking, lending, or regulated SaaS/financial-services business.

Strong hands-on experience with transaction/settlement reconciliations, merchant/partner payouts, nodal/escrow accounts, collections, and exception management.

Experience with fundraising, investor MIS, board reporting, financial modelling, due diligence, data rooms, and audit-quality reporting.

Proven experience building Finance functions, controls, policies, ERP/accounting workflows, and automation from scratch.

Proven ability to hire and lead finance teams, ideally across finance, accounting, and reconciliation.

Strong understanding of Indian finance and statutory compliance, including GST, TDS, and income tax.

Strong Excel/Google Sheets and financial-modelling skills, with experience using accounting/ERP systems.

Strong business-partnering and stakeholder-management skills with founders, banking partners, compliance, legal, operations, and product.

High ownership, commercial judgment, attention to detail, integrity, and comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Good to have

Experience in payment aggregators, regulated fintechs, NBFCs, lending, banking infrastructure, or API-led financial services.

Exposure to multi-entity accounting, cross-border payments, foreign-currency transactions, or international operations.

Experience implementing finance automation and scalable processes in an early-stage/high-growth company.
