Backend Engineer (AI Engineer)

We are looking forward for a suitable candidate for the position of Backend Engineer / AI Engineer (Architecture) role for their Investment Advisory Desk based in Mumbai Location

THE ROLEYou will own the backend that turns a large financial dataset into an API that a consumer product can query fast and you will own theinfrastructure it runs on. This is a data-heavy backend role, not CRUD. The hard parts are query performance, correctness under scale, pipelines thatdont silently break, and a system that stays up without someone watching it.

WHAT YOULL WORK ON

Services and data

Design and build APIs that serve computed analytics to a mobile-first frontend

Translate analytical logic from research prototypes into production database queries

Build and maintain ingestion pipelines against public financial data sources and vendor feeds

Design schemas for time-series and point-in-time financial data

Precomputation and caching strategy for metrics that cant be computed on request

Architecture

Shape the backend architecture service boundaries, data flow, API contracts and keep it coherent as the product grows

Make and document the tradeoff decisions: what gets precomputed, whats queried live, where state lives

Review and unblock other engineers building against your interfaces

Infrastructure and reliability

Own deployment: CI/CD, environments, release process, rollback

Production reliability at scale the full fund universe, not a pilot set. Latency budgets, capacity, failure modes

Observability: logging, metrics, alerting, and monitoring that catches data quality regressions, not just 500s

Testing strategy across unit, integration, and data validation. Silent corruption is the failure mode that matters here

Cost and performance management of infrastructure

REQUIRED

5+ years building production backend systems

Strong Python, SQL window functions, CTEs, query plans, and knowing why a query is slow

Postgres in production

REST API design; FastAPI or similar

Deployment and operations ownership: CI/CD, containerisation, at least one cloud platform, and having been on the hook when something broke

Practical testing discipline across unit, integration, and data-level validation

Observability in production youve set up monitoring and alerting, not just consumed someone elses dashboards

Comfortable owning a feature end to end without a spec handed to you
