Game Developer – Phaser & React.js - Internship (WFH)

About the internship:Eklavya is a learning platform that makes education engaging through interactive games and digital learning experiences for children aged 3-12. We currently offer hundreds of educational games and regularly add new titles across mathematics, language, science, geography, and life skills.

We are looking for a hands-on Game Developer who can build, improve, and maintain high-quality browser-based educational games.

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Develop interactive 2D educational games using Phaser 3.

2. Integrate Phaser games with React.js applications.

3. Convert educational requirements and game concepts into engaging gameplay.

4. Implement animations, audio, scoring, hints, levels, rewards, and progress tracking.

5. Ensure games work correctly across desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers.

6. Optimize games for low-end Android tablets and devices with limited memory.

7. Handle different screen sizes, resolutions, orientations, and aspect ratios.

8. Integrate games with APIs, authentication, analytics, and learner-progress systems.

9. Diagnose and fix gameplay, rendering, audio, performance, and browser compatibility issues.

10. Maintain and improve existing games without introducing regressions.

11. Write clean, modular, documented, and reusable code.

12. Collaborate with designers, educators, QA testers, and backend developers.

13. Strong hands-on experience with Phaser 3.2. Strong knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript.3. Experience with React.js and modern frontend development.4. Good understanding of HTML5 Canvas, animations, sprites, scenes, physics, tweens, and asset management.5. Experience building responsive games for mobile, tablet, and desktop.6. Understanding of touch, mouse, and keyboard input handling.7. Experience optimizing game performance, loading times, memory usage, and asset sizes.8. Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, Git, and browser developer tools.9. Ability to debug issues across Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Android WebView, and iOS WebView.10. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to gameplay details.What We Are Looking For:1. A developer who has personally built and shipped Phaser games.2. Someone comfortable working on both new games and an existing game catalogue.3. Ability to take ownership of a game from concept to deployment.4. A strong focus on reusable architecture rather than one-off implementations.5. Ability to balance engaging gameplay with clear learning objectives.6. Willingness to test work thoroughly across devices and browsers.Experience:1. 2+ years of relevant frontend or game development experience preferred.2. At least 1 year of practical experience with Phaser or a comparable HTML5 game framework.3.
