Bridge design engineer

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Bridge Design Engineer role based in Chandigarh, India. The Bridge Design Engineer will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and designing bridge structures in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. Day-to-day activities include preparing detailed design calculations, developing structural models, generating drawings and specifications, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams such as highway engineers, geotechnical specialists, and project managers. The role involves reviewing site data, assisting in feasibility studies, supporting construction supervision with design clarifications, and participating in design reviews and quality checks. The engineer will also contribute to technical reports, ensure compliance with safety and durability criteria, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong Design Engineering skills related to bridges and structural systems, including analysis and detailing. Candidates should possess Mechanical Engineering and Product Design skills relevant to structural components, load paths, and constructability considerations. Candidates should possess Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills for developing bridge layouts, reinforcement detailing, and construction drawings. Candidates should possess Electrical Engineering awareness for coordinating bridge-related utilities, lighting, and ancillary systems. Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering (with emphasis on Structural/Bridge Engineering) from a recognized institution. Familiarity with IRC, IS Codes, MoRTH specifications, and relevant bridge design standards and software (e.g., STAAD, MIDAS, or equivalent) is highly beneficial. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills, with attention to accuracy and safety in design. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines. .
