Purchase Executive

2. Purchase / Procurement Executive Main purpose: Manage procurement of machinery components, raw materials, consumables, spares, and other items required by the company at the right price, quality, and time. Key responsibilities: Identify and communicate with vendors and suppliers. Obtain quotations and compare prices, specifications, quality, and delivery timelines. Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions. Prepare purchase orders and obtain necessary approvals. Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery. Coordinate with production, engineering, stores, accounts, and management to understand requirements. Develop and maintain a database of reliable suppliers. Search for new vendors and alternative sources for critical materials/components. Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and service. Handle purchase-related documentation and maintain proper records. Resolve issues related to shortages, quality, delayed deliveries, or incorrect supplies. Monitor pending purchase orders and prepare regular procurement reports. Where applicable, coordinate with the import/export team for overseas purchases. Preferred candidate profile: Graduate, preferably in commerce, business, supply chain, or engineering. 2–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in manufacturing or heavy engineering. Experience dealing with industrial suppliers/vendors will be an advantage. Good negotiation and communication skills. Good knowledge of MS Excel and purchase documentation. Ability to compare quotations and make commercially sound purchasing decisions. Strong follow-up and vendor-management skills.
