Job description
Important: This is a hands-on, high-ownership internship with a ₹5,000/month stipend for students who want to work on real production backend systems and grow through direct feedback, responsibility and practical engineering experience.
Expected commitment: Approximately 25–30 hours per week for a minimum of 4 months.
About Auto Wisdom
Auto Wisdom is building automotive intelligence and digital products that help people make better decisions around cars, ownership and automotive services.
We are currently founder-led, which means you will work directly with the founder and get exposure to backend engineering, architecture, product decisions and the realities of building and operating production systems.
You will work on real APIs, data flows and backend systems used by real users — not isolated practice projects.
Why Join Us
At Auto Wisdom, you will:
Ship production backend features using Go and PostgreSQL
Work directly with the founder on engineering and architecture decisions
Receive frequent technical and product feedback
Work on APIs, authentication, data models, background jobs and production workflows
Learn how backend, frontend, infrastructure and product decisions connect
Own work from requirement understanding through implementation, review, QA and release
Gain practical experience maintaining an existing production codebase
What You'll Do
Build and maintain backend services in Go (Golang)
Design and evolve REST APIs and their request/response contracts
Work with PostgreSQL, relational data modelling, migrations and queries
Build reliable background jobs and asynchronous workflows
Work with Redis where caching, coordination or temporary state is required
Implement authentication, authorization and secure account flows
Handle transactions, retries, idempotency and failure recovery where required
Debug frontend-backend integration and production issues
Write tests for happy paths, failure paths and important edge cases
Review existing architecture before introducing new services or patterns
Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions
Use Docker and existing deployment/CI workflows
Document important APIs, decisions and implementation trade-offs
How We Work
We care about how you reason through a problem, not only whether the final API works.
You will be expected to:
Understand the requirement, existing code and data flow before implementation
Research unfamiliar concepts before deciding on an approach
Break non-trivial work into a clear implementation plan before coding
Identify dependencies, assumptions, risks and important edge cases early
Investigate independently, but ask focused questions when you remain blocked
Avoid staying silently confused or repeatedly trying fixes without understanding the cause
Estimate tasks realistically and improve your estimates over time
Respect agreed deadlines and communicate blockers or delays before the deadline
Provide a clear revised ETA if a committed timeline needs to change
Test and review your own changes before requesting code review
Consider security, concurrency, data integrity, failure recovery and backward compatibility
Take tasks through implementation, review, QA and final closure
AI-Assisted Development
We actively use modern AI development tools.
AI is welcome as an accelerator, not as a substitute for engineering understanding.
You must be able to:
Explain the code and architecture decisions you submit
Independently validate AI-generated code and recommendations
Identify when an AI-generated solution does not fit the existing codebase or architecture
Verify assumptions against the actual implementation and documentation
Test and take responsibility for all AI-assisted work you submit
You should never submit backend code you cannot independently explain and validate.
What We Expect
Strong fundamentals in Go (Golang)
Good understanding of SQL, PostgreSQL and relational data modelling
Understanding of REST APIs and frontend-backend integration
Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows
Ability to read and understand an existing codebase before modifying it
Structured problem-solving rather than trial-and-error implementation
Ability to explain technical decisions and implementation trade-offs
Good debugging, testing and self-review habits
Awareness of security and data-integrity concerns in backend systems
Willingness to ask focused questions when genuinely blocked
Realistic task estimation and respect for agreed deadlines
Proactive communication when blockers or timelines change
Openness to direct code-review feedback and the ability to apply it consistently
Bonus Points
Experience with GORM or another Go ORM
Experience with Redis
Knowledge of Docker and containerized applications
Experience with background jobs, queues or worker systems
Understanding of transactions, concurrency and idempotency
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT or session-based authentication
Familiarity with CI/CD and production deployment workflows
Exposure to Supabase, Railway, DigitalOcean, Cloudflare or similar platforms
Interest in system design, reliability and scalable backend systems
Deployed backend projects, internships or open-source contributions
Interest in cars, automotive technology or mobility
Eligibility
Students pursuing B.Tech, B.E. or a related technical degree
Preferably graduating in 2027 or 2028
Minimum 4-month availability
Able to commit approximately 25–30 hours per week
Candidates from all colleges are welcome — practical engineering ability matters more than college brand
Stipend
₹5,000 per month
What You'll Gain
Direct exposure to founder-led backend and architecture decisions
Ownership of production APIs and backend workflows
Frequent technical and product feedback
Experience with real code-review, QA and release processes
Practical experience with production databases, APIs and asynchronous systems
₹5,000/month stipend
Letter of recommendation based on performance
Priority consideration for future internships or full-time opportunities based on performance and business needs
