Job description
About the internship:intern will be responsible for the mechanical development of the Robotic Smart Actuator. Which include
Mechanical design and CAD:
1. Develop the mechanical architecture of a rotary actuator.
2. Design the motor and gearbox mounting arrangement.
3. Create CAD models for the housing, brackets, shafts, and other required components.
4. Design the output-position encoder mounting and alignment features.
5. Prepare assembly drawings and fabrication drawings.
Component selection and integration:
1. Evaluate suitable motors and gearboxes in collaboration with the electronics intern.
2. Assess gear ratio, rated torque, backlash, mounting dimensions, and mechanical constraints.
3. Integrate the motor, gearbox, output shaft, encoder, and housing.
4. Ensure mechanical compatibility with the motor controller and electrical interfaces.
Prototype fabrication and assembly:
1. Fabricate prototype components using 3D printing or suitable machining processes.
2. Assemble and inspect the mechanical prototype.
3. Identify and resolve alignment, clearance, and assembly issues.
4. Refine the design based on prototype testing.
Testing and documentation:
1. Measure output-shaft repeatability and gearbox backlash.
2. Support torque and speed characterization using appropriate test equipment.
3. Evaluate mechanical vibration, noise, and temperature-related constraints.
4. Maintain CAD files, bills of materials, assembly instructions, and test reports.
