Job description
About the job:We are hiring a Product Engineer to maintain, test and build new features across our region-specific donation-pickup websites and the backend systems that drive order fulfilment. This is a full-spectrum role. You will not be siloed into one layer - you will work across backend, frontend, internal tooling and automation, take ideas from concept to production, and own them end-to-end. As you ramp up, you will grow into independently owning major modules of the product. Because the team is small, you will see your work reach real people - real donations, picked up at real doorsteps - the same week you ship it. It also means working at startup pace. We set deadlines and we hit them. You will juggle multiple priorities, make calls without perfect information, and ship on time without dropping quality. We hire builders who span the whole stack, move fast, and own their work end-to-end. We care about what you can build, not where you went to school. If you have shipped real things - freelance projects, your own plugins, live client sites - that counts, whether or not it came with a job title.
Key responsibilities:
1. Maintain and improve our region-specific donation-pickup websites and the backend systems behind order fulfillment.
2. Build new features end-to-end, from backend logic through to frontend implementation.
3. Write and maintain internal tooling and automations that make our operations smoother and our team faster.
4. Write and maintain unit tests for the features you build, and own the quality of your own work rather than relying on others to catch issues.
5. Debug, troubleshoot and root-cause issues across the stack, often working independently.
6. Take responsibility for the reliability and uptime of what you build - these are live sites processing real donations, so things break and need fixing.
7. Gradually take full ownership of major modules of the product as you ramp up.
8. Coordinate closely with engineering, operations and logistics stakeholders so what you build solves the right problem.
Why join us:
1. Real ownership, early - you will own major modules of the product, not a narrow slice of someone else's machine.
2. Work that matters - every feature you ship helps a reusable item reach someone who needs it.
3. Full-stack range across backend, frontend, tooling and automation.
4. And a lean team that is serious about doing things well.
Working remotely:
1. This is a fully remote role.
2. To do it well you will need reliable, good-quality internet, a capable laptop with a working webcam and microphone, good tech hygiene, and a quiet, distraction-free workspace where you can focus and take calls.
